Uploading and Downloading
How to upload files to and download files from Park Press Printers' file repository.
Sometimes it's necessary to exchange large files with us here at Park Press Printers. While uploading and downloading large files can be problematic, we try to make it as easy as possible.
To begin with you're going to need a username and password. You'll have to initially get these by telephone from us directly.
Downloading
Getting files from us is easy. You can go here (you'll need the username and password from above) and download your files directly. Depending upon your browser you can generally tell it to save your username and password so it'll automatically enter it for you next time.
Uploading
Sending us files is a little more tricky due to differences with the way various computers work. We support a couple of different ways for you to send us files, and you can pick whatever works best for you.
We've broken it down below by the most popular computer platforms:
Mac OS X
Use the Go / Connect to Server... from the
Finder menu (or just press command-K) and type
http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/
for the server address (clicking the plus button will save it for you for next
time). You'll be propted for the username and password from above (checking the
keychain box will make it save it for you next time). You're done.
Windows XP
Use the My Network Places from the start
menu and click Add a network place. Click Next followed
by Choose another network location and another Next.
There's a bug with the Home version of Windows XP (but not the Pro version)
that can cause problems here. Try entering
http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/ for the Internet or
network address and click Next, but if this fails try instead
http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/# and click Next.
You'll be prompted for your usename and password (and can save them for next time
by checking the Save this password checkbox). You'll then have to
click Next again, and finally Finish. You're done.
Linux, Solaris, and Other Unixes
Use Cadaver (or your favorite WebDAV client)
to connect to http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/. You're
done.
Older MS-Windows
Oddly enough the older versions of MS-Windows (although no earlier
than Windows '98 SE) work better than Windows XP with regards to file repositories.
Double-click My Computer, double-click Web Folders,
and then double-click Add Web Folder. Type
http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/ for the location to add,
and click Next. You'll be prompted for your username and password,
and once you've entered them, you're done. If this fails for some reason, try
the location used for Windows XP above.
Older Mac OS
Click the Network Browser from the Apple menu and
choose Connect to Server... from the Network menu button.
Enter http://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/ for the network
address and click Connect. You'll be prompted for a username and
password, and once you've entered them, you're done.
If All Else Fails
You can use a much less secure FTP interface available at ftp://ftp.parkpressprinters.com/files/ but this is generally not recommended. You'll be prompted for a username and password, and once you've entered them, you're done.
